The wonderful VCSE sector in Kingston turned out in force to showcase their services at the 'Meet and Greet' event for local Councillors at the United Reformed Church last Thursday.

There were representatives from charities, small community organisations and support groups whose tireless energy and enthusiasm do so much to support the residents of Kingston. Whether it's picking up people's problems before they reach crisis point, bringing seldom heard voices to the table or working with RBK and the local NHS to tackle health inequalities, the VCSE sector has a vital role to play.

The Leader and the CEO of the Council, Cllr Andreas Kirsch and Sarah Ireland, gave welcoming speeches in recognition of the sector's enormous contribution to the borough. The Elected Members who attended were able to learn more about the work of individual organisations from their staff and volunteers. It was great to see the Deputy Leader, Nicola Nardelli and the Deputy Mayor, Jane Lim spending the whole evening with us.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along. We were surprised, though, that not more Elected Members were able to attend and we will be looking for another opportunity for meaningful engagement soon.
