The Greater London Authority (GLA) invites you to take part in the London Cool Spaces initiative by having your venue signposted on our map. By registering your venue, you can provide vital respite for Londoners during periods of extreme heat.

What are Cool Spaces? Cool Spaces are indoor venues where people can seek relief when temperatures rise. Following the record-breaking 40°C heatwave in July 2022, these spaces have become a critical part of London’s climate resilience. If your space is cooler than the outdoors and can provide the following, we look forward to hearing from you:

  • An area open to all members of the public.
  • Access to free drinking water.
  • A place for people to rest and recover at no cost

To be included in the 2026 map, please complete our Registration formWe will review your details and add your venue to the official map.

The Cool Spaces map will be active from 1 June to 30 September 2026. During this time, your venue’s address and opening hours will be publicly available to help Londoners find their nearest place of rest.

Thank you for supporting your community this summer. Please get in touch if you have any questions cityresilience@london.gov.uk
