Background

This fund aims to support small-to-mid-sized charities that deliver direct programming to 150 to 300 underrepresented youth aged between 12 and 18 outside of formal school settings, in structured, recurring settings such as after-school clubs, community centres, and youth development organisations, as well as charities with a specific focus on literacy.

Selected organisations will incorporate Audible into their existing programming, creating intentional moments of discovery through workshops, listening sessions, and guided exploration that inspire youth to engage with audio content and sustain that engagement over time, with a minimum of biweekly touchpoints.

For this programme, underrepresented youth includes young people who self-identify as part of one or more of the following communities:

• Racially and ethnically minoritised communities.
• LGBTQIA+.
• Woman-identifying.
• Youth with disabilities and/or neurodivergence.
• Youth who do not identify as part of the majority community in their place of residence.

Grants of between £15,000 and £30,000 are available to support programme design and delivery.

Who Can Apply

Registered charities can apply.

To apply, groups must:

• Have existing, established relationships with the youth they serve, rather than a plan to recruit a new population.
• Have the organisational capacity to onboard youth onto Audible, provide technical support, and sustain engagement over a 6-month term.
• Be committed to collecting and sharing program data, surfacing learnings, and reporting on impact in alignment with our shared metrics framework.
• Have data protection and privacy protocols in place, or the capacity to develop them, that support compliance with COPPA and the secure handling of youth data.
• Have no primary political or religious affiliation that would direct the use of grant funds.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding can be used to support costs associated with project delivery.

Applicants may include overhead costs of up to approximately 10% of the total grant request.
