Community Café - Lunch

Who's it for?

Welcome café for people who have relocated from Hong Kong

What's on offer?

Every Wednesday, Kingston Library becomes home to the Welcome Café, a vibrant weekly gathering attended by around 80 members of the Hong Kong community. Hosted on the library’s closed day, the café has grown into a welcoming space for people who have relocated from Hong Kong and are building new lives in the UK. It is a place to form friendships, practise English, learn how to navigate life in the UK and share conversation over a cup of tea. The Welcome Café was originally established to support those arriving from Hong Kong seeking refuge, offering signposting, advice and connection. Alongside its weekly programme, the Welcome Café also celebrates key cultural moments, including Lunar New Year. During this time, the community comes together to share food, stories, crafts and activities for all ages.
