Stronger Together: London Charities & CICs Networking Day

Thursday 14 January 2027
09:30 to 15:00

A free networking day for London charities and CICs to connect, share experiences, reflect on what's working and explore collaboration.

Connect, reflect, share ideas and discover opportunities to collaborate.

Working in the voluntary sector can sometimes feel isolating, particularly when organisations are facing increasing demand, funding pressures and limited resources. Yet across London, there are so many charities and CICs doing incredible work, often without knowing what other organisations are doing or how they might support one another.

Stronger Together is our first free online networking and reflective practice day, hosted by Family Based Solutions. We're bringing together London charities, CICs and voluntary organisations to meet, share experiences, learn from one another and explore opportunities to work together.

We hope this will be the first of many Stronger Together events, creating opportunities for organisations to build relationships, share knowledge and support one another beyond a single day.

Whether you're a small community organisation, an established charity or a newly formed CIC, this is an opportunity to step away from your day-to-day responsibilities, make new connections and discover what might be possible when we come together.

What can you expect?

We've designed the day to be interactive, welcoming and a little different from traditional networking events. There won't be hours of presentations or listening to speakers. Instead, the focus will be on conversations, shared learning and making meaningful connections.

Speed Networking – Meet Other Organisations

You'll have the opportunity to meet representatives from other charities and CICs in small Zoom breakout rooms.

Each person will have time to introduce themselves, explain what their organisation does, who they support, where they work and what connections they would welcome.

We'll mix the groups so you can meet different people. You never know what opportunities might come from a conversation with an organisation you've never heard of before.

Solution Focused Reflection – Recognising What's Working

Led by Family Based Solutions, we'll introduce a series of reflective questions before inviting you into small breakout groups to explore them with other participants.

Our three discussions will focus on:

  • What's already working well? Recognising your organisation's strengths, achievements and the difference you're making.
  • What could be even better? Exploring what you'd like to improve, what needs to happen and the small steps that could help you move forward.
  • What could we achieve together? Considering opportunities to share knowledge, resources, expertise and collaborate with other organisations.

You don't need any previous knowledge of Solution Focused practice. These are simply opportunities to reflect, exchange ideas and learn from one another.

The Coffee House, The Tea Room and The Garden Room

We've also included something a little different!

Towards the end of the day, we'll invite you into one of our three informal Zoom networking spaces:

  • The Coffee House
  • The Tea Room
  • The Garden Room

We'll allocate participants to different rooms, giving everyone another opportunity to meet organisations they may not have connected with earlier in the day.

There are no set discussion topics, presentations or structured questions. It's simply an opportunity to relax, have a chat, exchange ideas, continue conversations or discover something new about another organisation.

Grab your favourite drink, get comfortable and enjoy the conversation!

Who should attend?

This event is for people working or volunteering in London charities, CICs, community groups and other not-for-profit organisations, particularly those supporting children, young people and families.

We welcome founders, trustees, managers, practitioners, project leads, volunteers and anyone interested in building connections across the voluntary sector.

What will you take away?

We hope you'll leave with:

  • New contacts and a better understanding of other organisations working across London.
  • Ideas and approaches you can take back to your own organisation.
  • An opportunity to recognise and celebrate what's already working well.
  • Fresh perspectives on challenges and opportunities.
  • Potential partnerships, referral connections and opportunities for collaboration.
  • One or two practical steps you can take towards your organisation's goals.

A few things to know

This is a free, interactive event delivered entirely online via Zoom.

Participation is an important part of the day, so we encourage everyone to join with their camera and microphone available where possible and be willing to contribute to small-group conversations.

You won't be expected to give a presentation or formally report back on your discussions.

We'll provide the discussion questions and guide you through the day.

Our aim is simple: to bring organisations together, create space for meaningful conversations and see what becomes possible when we share our experiences, knowledge and ideas.

We hope this first event will be the beginning of an ongoing network of organisations that continue connecting, collaborating and supporting each other.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Meet Your Hosts – Ayse, Joe and Family Based Solutions

Stronger Together is hosted by Ayse Adil and Joe from Family Based Solutions (FBS).

Family Based Solutions is a London-based charity supporting individuals, children and families affected by domestic abuse, child-to-parent abuse and challenging family relationships.

Our work is rooted in Solution Focused practice. We believe that families deserve support that works around their needs, rather than expecting them to fit into a service or conform to a particular therapeutic model.

Alongside our direct work with families, we provide professional training, reflective practice and support to practitioners and organisations through FBS and Re-Mind Services.

Our work has received international recognition, including two European Brief Therapy Awards, recognising our innovative and Solution Focused approach to supporting families.

Ayse and Joe are passionate about bringing people together, sharing knowledge and recognising the valuable work happening across the voluntary sector.

We know how challenging it can be to run a charity, particularly when resources are stretched and demand for services continues to grow. We also know how much organisations can learn from one another.

That's why we've created Stronger Together.

We're not bringing everyone together because we have all the answers. We're creating an opportunity for organisations to share their experiences, recognise their strengths, make new connections and explore what might be possible through collaboration.

This is our first Stronger Together networking day, and we hope it will be the beginning of many more opportunities to connect and support one another.
