Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly common in charities, but what does this mean for trustees? Join us for a practical one-hour online lunch and learn session during Small Charity Week 2026, designed specifically for trustees of small charities in Kingston upon Thames.

We'll explore what trustees need to think about when AI is used in their organisation, including governance, risk, accountability, data protection, transparency, and keeping the "human in the lead". We'll introduce a simple AI Policy and Guidance Template based on core principles which you can adapt for your own organisation.

The session will include practical steps to help you get started, opportunities to discuss real-life scenarios and time to network with other local charities about their experiences. Whether you're completely new to AI or have already experimented with tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT but aren't sure what your trustee responsibilities are, this session will help you take the next step with confidence.

You'll receive a copy of the AI policy or guidance template to adapt for your organisation.

Course format

Peer networking event

A peer networking event is a facilitated space for you to come together with peers to share and learn from each other. You will be asked to participate in activities including small group discussions and it will be best to join from a laptop or desktop device. We encourage participants to have their cameras on where possible.

Trainer/s

Kate White has managed Superhighways for over 20 years and has extensive experience in supporting small charities and community organisations to be more efficient and effective using digital technology for social impact.

Sorrel Parsons is our Digital Programmes Lead at Superhighways and has 20 years' experience in supporting charities, community organisations and volunteers in the UK to communicate with the people that matter to them, demonstrate their impact and raise funds. Sorrel is a fan of making digital work on a shoestring.

Paul has been working with technology and websites for over 30 years. He has helped establish charitable CICs running local fund raising events (Kew Fete & Kew Village market) and worked with Charities in the Richmond/Kew area developing their websites and getting the most from the software available to them. Paul loves investigating new software products and helping organizations choose the most appropriate tools and get the most out of them to benefit their organisation.
