Business Continuity Planning Training for Kingston VCSE sector

This practical and interactive training session will help representatives from Kingston VCSE organisations understand what Business Continuity Planning is, why it is increasingly important and how to develop a simple, practical and proportionate Business Continuity Plan.

In doing so topics covered will include:

  • What business continuity is and why it matters.
  • What good practice looks like.
  • How to develop, test and maintain a practical plan.
  • How to engage staff, volunteers and trustees.
  • Lessons learned from real-life case studies.

The session will focus on how to cut through the jargon and create a Business Continuity Plan that is practical, pragmatic and genuinely useful.

By the end of the session attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and benefits of Business Continuity Planning.
  • Describe the key components of a practical and proportionate Business Continuity Plan.
  • Outline the process for developing, testing and maintaining a Business Continuity Plan to ensure it remains effective and up to date.
  • Identify approaches to engaging with and gaining buy-in from staff, volunteers, trustees and other stakeholders.

About the trainer:

Phil Coley, Principal Risk Consultant

Phil is a highly experienced risk and resilience practitioner having worked in senior internal and customer facing roles within Zurich for 25 years and is a Member of the Business Continuity Institute.

In doing so, he has extensive experience of working with public sector organizations on developing, implementing and embedding risk and resilience solutions. This includes developing, implementing and reviewing Business Continuity Programmes in line with best practice and facilitating scenario exercises to test resilience

As a Principal Risk Consultant, Phil works with customers to help them to better understand & manage their key risks and to become more resilient and in doing so to deliver on their strategic objectives.
