Virtual Understanding Coercive and Controlling Behaviour Training

This session will enable you to recognise controlling and coercive behaviour and appropriately risk assess and safety plan.

This training session is for Kingston professionals and will be virtual via Google meet.

Course objectives:

  • Define Coercive and Controlling Behaviour: Understand what constitutes coercive and controlling behaviour and how it impacts individuals.
  • Recognize Signs and Patterns: Learn to identify the subtle and overt signs of coercive control in different contexts.
  • Understand the Legal Framework: Explore the legal aspects of coercive control, including relevant laws and protections available.
  • Examine Psychological Effects: Understand the emotional, mental, and physical impact coercive control has on victims.
  • Develop Effective Communication Strategies: Provide tools to effectively communicate and support victims of coercive and controlling behaviour.
  • Provide Support Resources: Provide local and national resources available for individuals experiencing coercion and control.
  • Improve Risk Assessment Skills: Learn how to assess and manage risk when coercive control is suspected.
