Exploring Lived Experiences: Drug and Alcohol Use & Domestic Abuse

This is a workshop for Kingston professionals, focusing on the lived experience of drug and alcohol use and domestic abuse.

Through stories of lived experience, we will explore the following themes:

  • Drug and alcohol use
  • Intimate partner violence
  • Involvement with the justice system
  • Pregnancy and parenting
  • Trauma, shame, and stigma

The session will be an interactive workshop. Participants will work through the specific themes to understand how they interact with drug and alcohol use and domstic abuse and create barriers to engaging with services.

The aims of the sessions are to:

  • Understand the unique challenges for people experiencing drug and alcohol use and domestic abuse.
  • Navigate areas of improvement in ways of working to better support people.
  • Identify facilitators and barriers for implementing the learnings from the session into practice.
