Spiritual and ritual abuse (SARA)

An hour's taster giving a top-level overview of the prevalent, complex, and hidden form of harm that is spiritual and ritual abuse (SARA).
 

This one-hour taster will give a top-level overview of spiritual and ritual abuse (SARA), including:

  • Defining spiritual and ritual abuse and understanding its various forms
  • Overview of signs and indicators of spiritual and ritual abuse
  • Learning about the impact on survivors, including trauma responses and psychological harm
  • Recognising the prevalence in the UK of this complex form of abuse
  • Overview of how to appropriately respond to disclosures and safeguarding concerns

 

This session will be led by Gabriella Russo, who has lived experience of this form of abuse.

 

This session is an overview – for more in-depth training, including deeper understanding of indicators and full training on how to respond to this form of abuse, what action to take, and trauma informed approaches to disclosure, please contact Gabriella.
