Lunch & Learn: Working with Genograms

As a core training and practice tool, a multi-generational genogram supports a strengths -based approach to working with children and their connected communities, developing an understanding of the strengths and challenges voiced through the lived experience of the family, opening generational patterns to support practice.This tool also supports us to move towards being culturally sensitive and competent practitioners.
 

Description

This lunch and learn session aims to support multi agency practitioners across Kingston & Richmond to develop skills and confidence to create genograms with the families they work with.
 

Outcomes

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the role and purpose of genograms and how they fit into systemic thinking
  • Create awareness about the difference between a genogram & a chronology and the different types genogram
  • Consider how to develop three generational genograms
  • Support skills to develop cultural genograms and confidence for working in a culturally competent way with families
