Introduction to the Return Interview Service & Contextual Safeguarding (Kingston & Richmond)

This a two hour introduction session.

The first hour is for all colleagues within Operational Area 1 to learn about how we are implementing contextual safeguarding across Kingston & Richmond.

The second hour is for all Early Help and Social Care colleagues in Operational Area 1 where we will discuss in more detail aspects that relate specifically to children reported missing and risk in the community that children face and how we use our technology system to evidence this.

Description

Hour 1:
    • Introduction to Contextual Safeguarding and overview of national to local application
    • Discussion of Terms of References
    • Referring locations into the Contextual Safeguarding service
    • An overview of the work the service completes within locations

Hour 2:
  • Missing Episodes and the Return Interview Service
  • Overview of the Return Interview Service, Learning and roles within the team
  • Recording on LCS: Where to find the missing episodes.
  • Overview of completing the ROTH section on Contacts, Assessments, Strategy Discussion, and the ROTH CP plan

Outcomes

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of contextual safeguarding and children reported missing will be clear on how locally we are responding and embedding this approach
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how information should be recorded within LCS to support the holistic response to risk outside the home
  • Know where they can find information, policies and procedures that are relevant to AfC
