KRSCP Safeguarding Children: Child Protection Process Level 3

Thursday 13 November 2025
18:00 to 21:30

This training session will provide delegates with more information about the processes involved with child protection procedures, including statutory assessment. Under the Children Act 1989, local authorities are required to provide services for children in need for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting their welfare. Local authorities undertake assessments of the needs of individual children to determine which services to provide and what action to take.

This course is multi-agency and designed for members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/ or their parents/carers and who potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns.

It is recommended that designated safeguarding leads within all organisations attend this course. It is the responsibility of the designated safeguarding leads (DSL) to coordinate the response to safeguarding concerns within their organisation, and to support others in doing so, therefore this course will ensure DSLs are well equipped to meet their statutory responsibilities. This course will start promptly at the identified start time.

You are in a unique position to be able to observe signs of abuse or neglect, or changes in behaviour which may indicate a child may be being abused or neglected. All those working with children and young people should make sure that they are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect, that they question the behaviours, not taking everything they are told at face value.

This course is for staff and volunteers in regular contact or who have a period of intense but irregular contact with children and young people and/or parents/carers including all health clinical staff, who may be in a position to identify concerns about maltreatment.

At the end of the course delegates will have a greater understanding of safeguarding and the processes involved and be more aware how these fit in relation to their role in their organisation.
