Starting up: How to become a Charity or Social Enterprise

Do you have a brilliant idea yet need help to turn it into a great charitable project? If so this workshop is for you. This interactive online session will cover: legal structures, leadership risks, case for support, and how to develop budgets!

 

This online course is suitable for anyone who is setting up a community group, charity or social enterprise based in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames or Royal Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Attend as:

  • an individual
  • with your co-leaders
  • as a new group
  • someone who wants a refresher on charitable trends

 

This course will help you to:

  • Develop your project ideas into a draft case for support
  • Recognise different kinds of organisational forms and legal statuses
  • Identify the steps / support needed to build your idea
  • Plan ahead to counteract common leadership risks

 

Trainer's biography: Claudia Demuth

As an experienced coach and trainer, Claudia Demuth helps not-for-profits to set up, effectively deliver, and carefully reflect on income generation, business planning and leadership / governance approaches. A long-standing associate for Kingston Voluntary Action, Richmond CVS and Croydon Voluntary Action; Claudia also undertakes consultancy for Lloyds Bank Foundation, Justice Together Initiative, and other umbrella bodies. Previous, similar work includes the School for Social Entrepreneurs, London Community Foundation, Homeless Link, and the Law Centre Network.

Clients really value Claudia’s ability to quickly identify organisational stumbling blocks and ask hard questions which help challenge long-held assumptions whilst bringing humour, patience and empathy to any developmental process.

Using expert coaching, creativity, action learning techniques and much interaction, her focus is to encourage third sector leaders and managers to keep going in demanding roles.
