Good governance is vital for an effective, sustainable, fundable organisation - regardless of their legal structure.
This session is designed to help you put your organisation on the right footing for growth and stability.
This workshop will use a combination of presentation, practical exercises and group activities to define Good governance. The importance of good governance and what funders are looking for in a well governed organisation will be explained. We will give tips on how to create good governance within organisations and tips on recruiting trustees and ensuring that organisations have the right mix of talent on their boards.
This workshop will focus on:
- What is governance?
- Why does governance matter and to who?
- Why is governance such a hot topic?
- How to embed good governance in your organisation
- The importance of trustees and directors
- Tips on how to recruit trustees
Intended outcomes:
- Participants will better understand the duties and legal responsibilities of trustees
- Build an understanding of how to ensure your organisation remains well governed
- Understand what funders and potential partners look for in a well run organisation and why your organisation should reflect their needs
- An understanding of how to ensure their organisation has the right mix of skills & experience
- Some tips on recruiting trustees
- Understanding how succession planning ensures the dynamism, sustainability and ultimately fundability of their organisation
