The Kingston Buddy Scheme celebrated its 20th anniversary on 28th September with a party at the Wych Elm pub. Around 20 current buddies and volunteers attended plus a few from the past and lively entertainment was provided by the Colliers Wood International Ukulele band.
The Buddy Scheme matches volunteers to people with a learning disability or on the Autistic Spectrum. The buddy pair then meets regularly to take part in leisure activities and during the last 20 years there has been an A-Z of outings from AFC Wimbledon matches to Zumba classes with lots of bowling, films, pizzas and walks in the park in between.
The Scheme is always keen to hear from new volunteers so if you are interested in helping someone to enjoy leisure activities and have a few hours a month to spare please contact the coordinator on 020 8255 8068 / 8685 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
