KVA staff volunteering day

As part of the #selfcarekingston month of volunteering and learning, members of KVA staff went down to volunteer at local charity, The Vintage Banquet.

The Vintage Banquet, is a club for Kingston residents over 60 who meet in St Peters Hall, on a Thursday where they have a two course lunch and some games and entertainment. It costs £5 for people to take part.

We arrived at 10.15 to help set up, and were immediately taken to ASDA to buy everything needed for a two course meal for 25 – 30 people. Back at St Peters church we peeled and chopped everything that needed to be prepared, while people started arriving.

Then it was the pre lunch entertainment, with a guided dancing activity with the group, which ended with dancing while wearing hats and feathers…

Followed by a tasty lunch, sitting together.

After helping tidy up, we joined in the quiz and were delighted to receive thank you mugs from Clive from Vintage Banquet for volunteering. It was a great day!
