How to chair and manage meetings 
Hillcroft College, Surbiton - 4 December

Course overview: This course is designed to teach the main skills in Chairing meetings effectively so that one can get the most out of the time; everyone is clear what they need to do and all participants are able to have their say.  Ensuring that conflicts are resolved quickly and that decisions are made.

Course Trainer - Alison Granger: Alison has 12 years post qualification experience as a commercial litigation and employment solicitor in the West End and the City. Having started a family, Alison decided to re-train as a teacher and has 13 years’ experience of tutoring in law, study skills, English and English Literature on business and humanities courses at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College as well as other institutions in the South West London area including Surbiton High School for Girls.

Who should attend: This course will be suitable for chief executive officers, senior staff and anyone whose role requires them to chair meetings on a regular basis.

How to take minutes
HIllcroft College, Surbiton - 11 December

Course overview: This course will teach you the main skills in taking effectively minutes so that key points are recorded and everyone is clear what they need to do. Ensuring that key problems and responsibilities are highlighed in a clear and meaningful way.

Introduction to First Aid (non-accredited)
Hillcroft College, Surbiton - 10 January 

Course Overview. This 2 hour course covers a range of life-saving skills such as unresponsiveness, choking and seizures, basic wound care and basic life support. A certificate will be awarded once the course has been completed.

Course Trainer – Katie Gilmore: Katie is a paediatric specialist, as well as being a First Aid instructor. She has 20 years’ experience as an Accident and Emergency nurse, working with adults and children. She specialises in the Paediatric First Aid courses but teach all First Aid courses. Katie has qualified in Immediate Paediatric Life Support (PILS) and brings her own A&E experience to each course. Katie was inspected in July 2017 and received an outstanding grade for her teaching. She is CBT trained and hold a level 3 in safeguarding.

Who should attend: This course is for anyone 16 plus who wants to learn first aid for adults.

Emergency First Aid
Hillcroft College, Surbiton - 15 January

Course Overview: This course is designed to train individuals in the administration of emergency first aid within the workplace. This course will provide first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious or is bleeding prior to the arrival of the emergency services.

Course Trainer – Katie Gilmore: Katie is a paediatric specialist, as well as being a First Aid instructor. She has 20 years’ experience as an Accident and Emergency nurse, working with adults and children. She specialises in the Paediatric First Aid courses but teach all First Aid courses. Digital Health Navigator Training – Monthly dates
Hillcroft College, Surbiton – 13.30 – 16.30
Kingston Digital Health Navigator training offers a practical hands-on session for your volunteers and staff, giving them the skills and knowledge to help local people find their way around a wealth of online health information.
Activities and resources include:

  • A walkthrough of the NHS Choices website with themed searches and quizzes
  • A detailed look at local health directories including an overview of the services and support voluntary and community groups offer 
  • How to install and using NHS recommended health apps
  • Signposting people to online support to develop their digital skills

There will be plenty of time for discussion around how you can apply your new skills and knowledge within your organisation. There will be many opportunities to ask questions and share personal experiences. 

All attendees will receive a Kingston Digital Health Navigator certificate on completion.
