About Kingston Voluntary Action

Kingston Voluntary Action is the infrastructure and umbrella organisation for voluntary and community organisations in the Borough of Kingston. We are a Registered Charity and were established in 1968.

Organisations we support include charities, community, faith and sports groups, and social enterprises. To achieve our aims, we also work closely with local public sector organisations and business partners.

KVA is part of a national network of over 250 Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS). We meet all the membership criteria to qualify for full membership of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA). We were one of the first CVS in London to be awarded the NAVCA Quality Award. This is a national quality standard that recognises that KVA's support makes a real difference to local voluntary and community organisations.

Aims and Objectives

Kingston Voluntary Action's Mission states:

Kingston Voluntary Action leads community engagement, creating opportunities for organisations and individuals to be empowered, enabling them to reach their full potential so that they can make a difference to their communities.

Our aim is to support, advise and develop voluntary organisations and community groups through the provision of information, advice and services.

We review existing provision, identify unmet need, initiate new projects and development to meet these needs.

We aim to undertake a co-ordinating function within the voluntary sector and between the voluntary and statutory sectors and other partners.
